Bollywood Actress Deepika Padukone was chosen for the female lead role in Spirit starring Prabhas directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The Actress, however dropped out of the film citing creative differences. Many specualted that the Actress demanded many clauses which has an 8 hour shift work. There has already been a controversy regarding this issue with Netizens slamming the Actress for her demands.

Now, Kollywood Director, Mani Ratnam came in support of Deepika Padukone and endorsed the shift work for Actresses who have personal reasons. He said, “I think it’s nice when women ask for what they want and get what they want. It’s a very healthy sign.” He also added that the industry should accommodate such requests.

“If it doesn’t fit into your film, move on. But they should be respected for what they are asking. They are making a very fair demand, which is absolutely necessary, so we should acknowledge it and see how to live with it,” he said.

The Director has joined other celebrities like Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan who supported the shift work demand of Deepika Padukone. Recent Bollywood sensation, Tripti Dimri has been cast in the place of Deepika Padukone for Spirit. The film’s shoot will also commence soon.

Pawan Kalyan’s OG Enters Last Leg of Filming

Directed by Sujeeth, OG, starring Pawan Kalyan, is one of the most anticipated films from the Telugu film industry in recent times. The film’s release date has already been announced, and the latest news is that Pawan Kalyan’s OG has entered the last leg of filming.

After wrapping Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Pawan is continuously doing the shoot for “They Call Him OG.” The final schedule of the film starts tomorrow near Vijayawada, and with this, the entire shoot is said to be completed.

Thug Life Day 1: Advance bookings and Opening day predictions

Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan and Simbu is gearing up for release tomorrow. The film has created much hype and expectations in the recent times. The trade analysts also hoped a record start for the film but surprisingly, the advance bookings tell a different story. They have started on an average note.

In Tamil Nadu, the film is carrying 7 crores advances and in Kerala, the advances are just 60 Lakhs. In Telugu States, the advances are in the range of 1.2 crores and the bookings are not promising in Hindi version. As we already know, Thug Life has been banned in Karnataka with the controversy started by Kamal Haasan. So, the film’s advance range will be nearly 10 crores in India and the overseas market adds another 10 crores taking it to 20 crores worldwide.

With these bookings, the film is expected to take an opening close to 50 crores gross which will be the third biggest opening for Kamal Haasan after his Vikram and Indian 2.

Director Krish worked with Pawan Kalyan for Hari Hara Veera Mallu—Part 1: Sword vs. Spirit. Due to some unknown reasons, the director left the film at the last stage. Now, Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Ghaati, director Krish’s films, are set to face off against each other.

Recently, UV Creations, the makers of Ghaati, starring Anushka Shetty, announced that the film will be released in theaters worldwide on July 11, 2025. Surprisingly, July 11 is one of the dates under consideration for the release of HHVM as well.

Kollywood Veteran Actor Kamal Haasan caused a big controversy in recent times with his comments at his film Thug Life Audio Launch. The Actor stated that Kannada language took its birth from Tamil, and this stirred a big debate and criticism on social media platforms. Many Kannada Activists and Kannada Film Personalities saw this as a personal insult and demanded an apology from Kamal Haasan. They even banned the film in Karnataka.

However, Kamal Haasan failed to understand this issue and continued his stand, refusing to apologize. This attitude came as a big shock from an Actor who is known nationwide. His statement that Kannada took birth from Tamil has no relevance or proof. Still, the Actor believed in this against the sentiments of Karnataka people and approached the High Court requesting the Court to allow the release of Thug Life in the state.

The High Court objected to the statement of Kamal Haasan and questioned if he was a linguist or historian to have made this statement. The Court directed Kamal Haasan to formally tender an apology to solve this issue by respecting the sentiments of the people of Karnataka.

Surprisingly, Kamal Haasan pushed aside the recommendation of Karnataka High Court and stated that he wouldn’t apologize. Kamal Haasan officially stated that the apology was for a mistake, not a misunderstanding. With this, he still believes that Kannada originated from Tamil. This surely looks like a childish act by a celebrated Actor of the Country.

No one knows if the Actor feels he wouldn’t have to respect the direction of the High Court as well. This attitude has gained him a lot of criticism on social media platforms. Thug Life will not be releasing in Karnataka as a result of this. This will surely be a hit for the film’s revenue there. As the High Court opined, Kamal Haasan should’ve ended this in the first place with an apology, but he made it a state and language war, which is truly unfortunate.
