War 2 Telugu Version Opens Very Low

NTR takes the biggest risk by signing War 2 as his Bollywood debut film after RRR and Devara. The film also stars Hrithik as another lead, and there were huge expectations for the film. However, War 2 Telugu Version opens with very low numbers at the box office.

YRF Spy Universe is not a big brand in Telugu audiences, and such stylish, action-oriented films without much story do not resonate with Telugu people, which is reflected in the movie’s openings.

War 2 Telugu Version Box Office: Low Openings For NTR

The worldwide gross of the Telugu version of War 2 is 38 Cr for day 1, which means the opening of the Telugu version of War 2 is a very low one for NTR-starring films. Normally the 30-40 range opening will be taken by Tier 2 or medium-budget films, such as HIT 3 and Kingdom.

For NTR starrer any film could have easily done more than 100 Cr opening in Telugu, as his last release, Devara, did that, but War 2 fails to resonate with Telugu audiences, and the film crossing the 100 Cr mark in closing itself looks very tough.

Cooile and War 2 Will Also Compete on OTT

War 2 Digital rights have been bagged by Netflix, while the digital rights of Coolie are with another OTT big player, Prime Video. 

Both movies will stream on OTT in mid-September (Telugu and South versions), which means after 4 weeks, and the Hindi versions will stream in mid-October, as the North Indian multiplex screens have an 8-week theatrical window.

Collections-wise, Coolie and War 2 are expected to have a big day today with the national advantage. Coolie and War 2 will also compete on OTT streaming platforms when they make their digital debut.

Coolie, the action drama starring Superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, hit the theaters on August 14th. The film received mixed reviews, but the box office was on fire because of the massive hype. Still, Coolie falls short of an historic record.

No film has collected a double-digit gross in all South States to date. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 was expected to achieve this feat very easily, as it gathered a mammoth hype. But the film failed to do so because of a disappointing opening in Kerala.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie falls short of this historic record now. The film had a good chance to achieve a double-digit gross in all the South states, but due to mixed WOM and competition, the film could not gather the required number in Kerala and Telangana. 

Now, we need to see which film can achieve this record. Rajini-Nelson’s Jailer 2 has a good chance to achieve this, as it will have a big craze for the sequel.

Yesterday, Rajinikanth’s Coolie made its theatrical debut, and despite facing competition from War 2, the film experienced a remarkable day at the box office. Especially, Coolie collects massive numbers in the Telugu States and creates an all-time record.

In Telugu states the film has collected more than 20 Cr gross and become the 1st ever film to do this from Kollywood. 

Rajinikanth’s Coolie collects the biggest gross for a Tamil Movie in Telugu States

Definitely, if it had a solo release, the action drama could have opened even with more than 30 Cr gross, as it had such a huge demand for tickets despite mixed WOM.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie creates an all-time record on its day in the Telugu States. The breakeven gross stands at 90 Cr, and 1/4th recovery for buyers has been done with the first day. 

The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial carries very good advances for day 2, even better than War 2. It is expected to continue the momentum till the weekend, and the film needs to target around 70 Cr gross for the weekend.

This August 14th became the most anticipated day for movie lovers as two big pan-India films, Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan and NTR’s War 2, were released on the same day. Coolie and War 2 opening day estimates are out now.

Both movies failed to reach audiences’ expectations as far as the content is concerned. Coming to the collections, Rajini-Lokesh’s movie sees a fantastic start in Tamil, Telugu, and even Hindi as well. 

Rajinikanth’s Coolie Dominates War 2 And Takes The Biggest Opening for Kollywood

The film is expected to take around 155 Cr gross worldwide on the opening day, which is the biggest ever start for Kollywood. Meanwhile, War 2 receives mixed opening at the theaters.

The Hindi version had very ordinary pre-sales, so the expectations are not that great. The Telugu version sees good openings in a few territories and average in a few territories. 

Overall worldwide the film is expected to take around 85 Cr gross, and the initial expectations of War’s sequel’s opening were more than 150 Cr.

But it is nowhere near the expectations, because of the weak promotional content, and WOM also made a big impact.

Overall, Coolie and War 2 opening day estimates have a big difference, as the former has a big number while the latter settles with an average opening.

NTR Fails to Match Prabhas Record

NTR arrived with his latest movie, War 2, which marks his Bollywood debut. The film also stars Hrithik Roshan. The pre-release expectations were high for the film’s collections, but NTR fails to match Prabhas’s record with War 2. 

Pan-Indian star Prabhas has a rare record of a hat trick of 100 Cr opening grossers with Adipurush, Salaar, and Kalki 2898 AD. Till now, no hero has matched this record, and Taak was expected to join him.

Shahrukh Khan was also expected to break this hattrick 100 Cr openers record earlier. He scored back-to-back 100 crore openings with Pathaan and Jawan.

However, his third film in 2023, Dunki, failed to open with 100 Cr and missed the milestone. NTR’s last 2 films, RRR and Devara, opened with more than 100 Cr, and everyone expected that the War sequel will easily score an opening of 100 Cr and NTR will join this club.

But War 2 fails to open with 100 Cr+, and with that, NTR fails to match Prabhas’s record.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie was released in theaters amidst massive hype. The film received average/mixed reviews from audiences and critics. But the film has set the box office on fire. Coolie beats Leo overseas opening and creates history at the box office. 

Rajini’s Kabali had a historic start overseas, and it broke all benchmarks with a 6.5M start. After a long time, Vijay’s Leo broke this record with an 8M+ start.

Now, Rajinikanth’s Coolie Coolie beats Leo’s overseas opening and creates history at the box office. The action drama has broken the previous record and emerged as the biggest opener for Kollywood.

Overall, it is the 2nd biggest opener for Indian cinema after Baahubali 2 in the overseas market. The early estimates of Coolie overseas openings are around 9M.

The exact numbers will be out by tomorrow. As said above, the film opens with below-average WOM and reviews, which impacted the opening numbers a bit, or else it could have had a 10M start.

Akkineni fans were on cloud nine when they got to know that Nagarjuna is playing a villain opposite Superstar Rajinikanth in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. However, the fans are furious with Nagarjuna after watching the film today. 

Nagarjuna is one of the 4 pillars of Tollywood in the past generation who has a big fan base and following. Yes, he is facing a series of setbacks as a lead hero continuously, but the veteran actor is still capable of pulling off a big success with a good movie. 

Even the other senior hero, Venkatesh, also faced a big setback with the 2024 Sankranthi, where he scored a big disaster with Saindhav, but on this Sankranthi, he delivered a sensational BB with Sankranthiki Vastunnam.

The catch here is that Venky is patiently waiting and setting up the movies according to his strengths. But Nagarjuna takes a different route. He is not signing any movie as a lead and is accepting character roles.

Nagarjuna Faces The Heat From Fans Because Of Coolie

Nag played a crucial character in Kuberaa, and it resulted in a mixed response from fans, as they liked his role in the 1st half, as there was a good balance, but in the 2nd half, the character was sidelined, and the film completely moved on to Dhanush’s side.

Again, the Manmadhudu actor took a big risk as he accepted an antagonist role in Coolie. Everyone expected it to be on par with Rajini’s role, as Lokesh is the director.

Nagarjuna Needs To Take Care Of His Script Selection

But after watching the movie, even the neutral audiences are disappointed, and fans are furious with Nagarjuna, as they are angry that he could do such a regular villain character for his stature.

Nagarjuna needs to take this feedback seriously. He has correctly chosen to do crucial or villain characters at the right age, which is definitely appreciable, but he needs to select the films where he can score on par with the lead actor or even bigger for his stature.

కథ : 

దేవా (రజినీకాంత్) అనే వయసైన వ్యక్తి తన మ్యాన్షన్ లో ఒంటరిగా జీవిస్తూ ఉంటాడు. అయితే అతడు స్నేహితుడు రాజశేఖర్ (సత్యరాజ్) అనుకోకుండా ఊహించనివిధంగా చనిపోవడం జరుగుతుంది. అయితే ఆ తరువాత రాజశేఖర్ కూతురు ప్రీతి చుట్టూ కొన్ని ప్రమాదం పొంచి ఉండడం, ఆ తరువాత కథ సైమన్ చుట్టూ చేరడం, ఆపైన దేవా యొక్క గతం, అక్కడి నుండి స్టోరీ ఏ విధంగా సాగింది అనేది మొత్తం కూడా మనం మూవీలో చూడాల్సిందే. 

నటీనటుల పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ :

ముఖ్యంగా ఈ మూవీలో మరొక్కసారి తన అద్భుత పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ తో సూపర్ స్టార్ రజినీకాంత్ అదరగొట్టారు. లేటెస్ట్ గా 50 ఏళ్ళ సినీ కెరీర్ పూర్తి చేసుకున్న రజిని మార్క్ కొన్ని స్టైలిష్ డైలాగ్స్, మ్యానరిజమ్స్ ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి.

ఇక తొలిసారిగా కెరీర్ లో నెగటివ్ పాత్ర చేసిన కింగ్ అక్కినేని నాగార్జున సైమన్ గా ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో నాగార్జున పాత్ర ఆకట్టుకున్నప్పటికీ చివర్లో రజిని, నాగ్ ల మధ్య వచ్చే ఫైట్ సీన్స్ ని మరింత ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా రాసుకోవాల్సింది.

తన పాత్ర యొక్క పరిధి మేరకు శృతి హాసన్ ఆకట్టుకుంది. అయితే ఉపేంద్ర, అమీర్ ఖాన్ ల పాత్రలు అంత గొప్పగా ఏమి లేవు. ఇక మలయాళ నటుడు సౌబిన్ షాహిర్ తన పాత్రలో ఒదిగిపోయి సహజ నటన కనబరిచి అందరినీ అలరించాడు. సత్యరాజ్ తో పాటు రుచితా రామ్ కూడా అలరించే పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ కనబరిచారు. 

విశ్లేషణ : 

మాస్ యాక్షన్ సినిమాల దర్శకుడు లోకేష్ కనకరాజ్ కూలీ మూవీని పోర్ట్ సీన్స్ ద్వారా ప్రారంభించారు. అక్కడ పని చేసే కూలీని అతడి జీవితాన్ని చూపిస్తూ మూవీ ఆరంభం అవుతుంది. ఆ తరువాత నెగటివ్ పాత్ర చేసిన సైమన్ నుండి ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ మొత్తం కూడా ఇంటర్వెల్ వరకు ఆసక్తికరంగానే సాగుతుంది.

దేవా ఇంట్రడక్షన్ తో పాటు ప్రీతీతో ఉండే బంధం, హాస్టల్ లో ఫైట్ వంటి సీన్స్ ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. ఇంటర్వెల్ ఎపిసోడ్ కూడా అలరిస్తుంది. అయితే ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ తో పోలిస్తే సైమన్ పాత్ర సెకండ్ హాఫ్ లో మెల్లగా ఆసక్తిని కోల్పోతుంది. దేవాతో అతడికి ఏంటి సంబంధం అనే సీన్స్ పర్వాలేదనిపించినా మొత్తంగా అంత ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా ఉండవు.

ఇక సౌబిన్, శృతి హాసన్ ల సీన్స్ కొంత సాగదీసినట్లు అనిపిస్తాయి. ఇక విలన్స్ మధ్య ఉండే లింక్స్ కి సంబందించిన సీన్స్ కూడా అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోవు. అయితే కొక్కి థీమ్ ఫైట్ లో రజిని మార్క్ ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ ఎపిసోడ్ తో పాటు ఉపేంద్ర, అమీర్ ఖాన్ ల సీన్స్ కొంత హై అందిస్తాయి.

మొత్తంగా తొలిసారిగా సూపర్ స్టార్ రజినీకాంత్ తో యువ దర్శకుడు లోకేష్ కనకరాజ్ తీసిన లేటెస్ట్ మాస్ యాక్షన్ గ్యాంగ్ స్టర్ డ్రామా మూవీ కూలీ ఒక సాధారణ రివెంజ్ డ్రామా మూవీ అని చెప్పాలి. అయితే సూపర్ స్టార్ రజినీకాంత్ తో పాటు నాగార్జున, సౌబిన్ ల యాక్టింగ్, కొన్ని ఎలివేషన్, థ్రిల్లింగ్ సీన్స్, అనిరుద్ సంగీతం వంటివి ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ గా చెప్పవచ్చు. అయితే పూర్తి సాదాసీదాగా సాగె స్టోరీ ఉన్న ఈ మూవీని పెద్దగా అంచనాలు పెట్టుకోకుండా థియేటర్ కి వెళ్లి చూస్తే నచ్చుతుంది.

టాలీవుడ్ స్టార్ యాక్టర్ ఎన్టీఆర్ తొలిసారిగా బాలీవుడ్ లోకి ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చిన మూవీ వార్ 2 .ఈ మూవీలో మరొక స్టార్ నటుడు హృతిక్ రోషన్ కూడా నటించగా దీనిని యువ బాలీవుడ్ డైరెక్టర్ అయాన్ ముఖర్జీ తెరకెక్కించారు.

యష్ రాజ్ ఫిలిమ్స్ సంస్థ గ్రాండ్ గా నిర్మించిన ఈ మూవీలో కియారా అద్వానీ, అశుతోష్ రానా, అనిల్ కపూర్ కీలక పాత్రలు చేసారు. మరి నేడు గ్రాండ్ గా మంచి అంచనాల నడుమ రిలీజ్ అయిన ఈ మూవీ యొక్క పూర్తి రివ్యూ ఇప్పుడు చూద్దాం. 

కథ : 

ఈ మూవీలో స్నేహితులైన హృతిక్, ఎన్టీఆర్ ఇద్దరూ కూడా తమ తమ వ్యక్తిగత నిర్ణయాల వలన ఒకప్పుడు విడిపోతారు. అయితే దేశానికి సంబదించిన ఒక కీలక అంశం విషయమై వాళ్లిద్దరూ ఒక సందర్భంలో కలుస్తారు. అయితే ఆ అంశం ఏమిటి, వాళ్ళిద్దరి ఆ అడ్వెంచర్ కలయిక కి కారణం ఏమిటి, ఆ తరువాత ఏమి జరిగింది అనేది మొత్తం కూడా మనం మూవీలో చూడాల్సిందే. 

నటీనటుల పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ : 

ముఖ్యంగా ఈ మూవీలో అటు ఎన్టీఆర్, ఇటు హృతిక్ ఇద్దరూ కూడా తమ తమ పాత్రల్లో అదరగొట్టే పెరఫార్మన్క్ కనబరిచారు. యాక్టింగ్ పవర్ హౌస్ అయిన ఎన్టీఆర్ యాక్టింగ్ ఎంతో బాగుంటుంది. ఇక హృతిక్ కూడా కబీర్ గా మరొక్కసారి పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ అలరించాడు.

అయితే వీరిలో హృతిక్ పాత్రలో ఆయన పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ కి స్కోప్ ఉన్న సీన్స్ ఎక్కువ ఉన్నాయి. ఇక ఎన్టీఆర్ విషయానికి వస్తే ఒకరకంగా అయన పాత్ర ప్రకారం పూర్ బాలీవుడ్ డెబ్యూ మూవీ అనాలి. తన యాక్టింగ్ బాగున్నా పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ స్కోప్ ఉన్న సీన్స్ తక్కువ.

ఇక అశుతోష్ రానా తో పాటు అనిల్ కపూర్ కూడా పరిధి మేరకు అలరించారు. హీరోయిన్ గా కీలక పాత్ర చేసిన కియారా అద్వానీ కూడా ఒక సాంగ్ లో ఆకట్టుకోవడంతో పాటు అక్కడక్కడా అలరించింది. 

విశ్లేషణ : 

దర్శకుడు అయాన్ ముఖర్జీ ఎంచుకున్న వార్ 2 కథ జపాన్ లో హృతిక్ రోషన్ యాక్షన్ సీన్ తో ప్రారంభం అవుతుంది. అలానే ఎన్టీఆర్ ఇంట్రో తో పాటు ఇద్దరి మధ్య పేస్ టూ పేస్ ఘర్షణ సీన్స్ కి సరిపోయే బ్యాక్ డ్రాప్ ని బాగానే రాసుకున్నాడు.

అనంతరం వచ్చే యాక్షన్ సీన్స్ అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోకపోగా చప్పగా అనిపిస్తాయి. ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో ఇంటర్వెల్ కూడా అంత ఆసక్తికరంగా లేకపోయినప్పటికీ ఇద్దరు స్టార్ హీరోల డ్యాన్స్ నంబర్ సలాం అనాలి ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. ఇక సెకండ్ హాఫ్ లో వచ్చే ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ ఎపిసోడ్స్ ఇద్దరు నటుల మధ్య అనుబంధాన్ని కథని ఆవిష్కరిస్తాయి.

హృతిక్, కియారా మధ్య సీన్స్ ప్రశాంతంగా సాగుతాయి. సారంగ మరణ సన్నివేశం, అలానే ఎన్టీఆర్, హృతిక్ ల మధ్య సాగే క్లైమాక్స్ యాక్షన్ సీన్ యొక్క షాట్స్ బాగున్నా దానిని దర్శకుడు అంతగా ఆకట్టుకునేలా తీయలేకపోయాడు.

మొత్తంగా ఎన్టీఆర్, హృతిక్ రోషన్ కలిసి తొలిసారిగా నటించిన స్పై యాక్షన్ ఎంటర్టైనర్ మూవీ వార్ 2 టార్గెట్ ని మిస్ అయింది అని చెప్పకతప్పదు. ఇది ఒక ఫెయిల్ అయిన మిషన్. ఇద్దరు నటుల పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ తో పాటు అక్కడక్కడా అలరించే కొన్ని యాక్షన్ సీన్స్ తప్ప ఏమాత్రం పెద్దగా ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా సాగని కథనం మైనస్.
