Normally, after a terrific weekend, even big blockbuster films will see some drop on the 1st Monday, but the film Baby has shocked the trade with its unbelievable hold at the box office. In many of the Centers, the film has registered its biggest day at the box office. What’s more surprising is the collections on Day 4 are higher than the opening day.

The theatrical rights of the film were sold at just 9 crores and the movie has already collected 12 crores in share collections on the 1st weekend itself. These are some massive numbers for a film of its scale. And it is important to note that this is just the 1st-weekend collection. This remarkable revenue has come as a shock to the trade circles.

Looking at the superb consistency, the theater owners have added shows and screens as there is a good demand for the film, and they are receiving heavy returns fulls with exceptional turn around of the crowd.

The film is the most awaited one for the fans of pan-Indian Hero Prabhas. After ‘Baahubali’, he did three films. Samajavaragamana will stream on OTT from this weekend?

Sree Vishnu’s Samajavaragamana, a comedy film which was released as a small film in the theaters without many expectations, has become a blockbuster at the box office. The film is still successfully running in the theaters and now there is a small confusion regarding the film will be streamed on OTT from this weekend or not.

The digital rights of Samajavaragamana have been bought by Aha Video and the deal is said to be done for 3 weeks agreement after the theatrical release. This is the usual process for the small films’ OTT deal.

Now, according to the deal, the film has to be streamed from this weekend, but the makers did not expect that their film will become such a massive blockbuster. Normally, small films will make the deals for 3 – 4 weeks after the theatrical release because they get big price from the OTT platforms.

Now we need to wait and see how the makers will negotiate this situation. The Aha Video has already announced that the film, Samajavaragamana, will be streamed on their platform soon. If there are no negotiations, the film will be streamed on OTT from this weekend.

But after Love Story, it looks like a Horror story for Naga Chaitanya. The actor has not been able to get things on track. With back-to-back failures after Thank You and Custody, the actor has faced a huge setback in the industry.

Now, Naga Chaitanya is not okaying experimental scripts and is only working with notable directors. He is doing a big-budget Pan-Indian movie with director Chandoo Mondeti, who has proven what he can do with the Karthikeya franchise, especially Karthikeya 2. After Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan, director Mari Selvaraj developed a sort of cult fanbase for himself with just 2 films. It is very rare for directors to garner such kind of attention, a few that come to mind are Vetrimaaran, SS Rajamouli, Mani Ratnam, and so on but Mari Selvaraj did this with just 2 films.

So as expected, there was a lot of hype and expectations around his next movie Maamannan, which boasted a star cast of U. Stalin, Fahadh Faasil, Keerthy Suresh, and Vadivelu. Not only that, veteran actor Vadivelu, who we have so often seen in comedic roles only was going to portray a serious role. This further increased expectations.

The movie was released on June 29th and opened to mostly positive reviews from the audiences. As a result, the film became a huge blockbuster in Tamil, collecting more than 50 crores gross in Tamil Nadu alone. The response was terrific.

With the success of the Tamil version, the film’s Telugu rights were bought by Asian Multiplexes and Suresh Productions. The film was released in Telugu this week but it has not performed according to expectations. This is likely because movies like Baby and Maaveeran fared better because they were fresh releases.

The film failed to get rent even in some big theatres. This is proof that not every dubbed film will work in Telugu. The timing of the release is also very important. Nayakudu was released very late in comparison to its Tamil counterpart Maamannan, hence the poor response.

Sivakarthikeyans’s fantasy action drama Maaveeran was released in theatres on 14th July and opened to mostly positive reviews from the audiences. There were some issues with the pacing in the second half and some scenes, but overall, the verdict was, Entertaining Movie. The noon shows of the film started on an ordinary note. Perhaps this is because the film was poorly promoted. Another factor might also be that Sivakarthikeyan’s last film Prince did not quite impress the audiences.

Coming further south, In Kerala, the film has collected 85 Lakhs, and the Rest of India’s collections stand at around 40 Lakhs overall. So in total, the film collected a superb opening of 33 crores in India. And it does not end here, the overseas collections are also mighty impressive, with 11 crores. Thereby, making the total worldwide gross box office collections of Maaveeran, a whopping 44 crores.

With the current talk, the movie is sure to rake in some more money till 21st of July. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan, Aditi Shankar, Yogi Babu, Sunil, Mysskin, and a bunch of others in important roles. The film has been directed by Mandela fame Madonne Ashwin.
