Baby Movie 1st week worldwide Box office collections- Sensational

Sai Rajesh’s Baby has shocked one and all with its superb box office run. The film opened with great collections and continued the momentum during the weekdays as well. Several centers saw solid occupancies and the audience lapped up this youthful romantic drama which was powered by some great music. The film performs extremely well on weekdays and posted terrific numbers for week 1 which is almost on par with medium-budget films.

In Nizam, the film has collected Rs 8.5Cr share and in Ceeded, the film has collected Rs 3Cr share and in Andhra [6 Territories] the film has collected around 9Cr share. Total in Telugu states the film has collected 20.5Cr share and ROW collections are approximately Rs 3.5Cr overall putting the film’s total collections at 24Cr share worldwide.

The theatrical rights of the film were sold at just 9 crores which the movie has recovered long back and its a dream run for all the parties involved. Looking at the superb consistency, the theater owners have added shows and screens as there is a good demand for the film, and they are receiving heavy returns fulls with an exceptional turnaround of the crowd. 

Starring Vaishnavi Chaitanya, Anand Deverakonda, and Viraj Ashwin in lead roles and Naga Babu in key role, the film created a strong impact right from day 1. The music by Vijay Bulganin managed to attract the youth and create great buzz for the movie way before its release.

Story: Vinayak (Vijay Antony) is a private detective whom the police department assists in the murder case of Laila ( Meenakshi Chaudhary) an aspiring model/singer. How he solves the case with the lady police officer Sandhya Mohanraj (Ritika Singh)makes up the remaining story.

Analysis: This film initially sets up for an interesting and complicated web of suspicion and mystery, which makes the audience wait for the twists and turns upcoming in the world of the investigation. But that’s all there is to the film. The film does not surprise with the writing and the events that are taking place. By taking us into Laila’s life, Director Balaji Kumar takes us through her journey and reveals how the investigation works in parallel in a non-linear manner. This looks and works well in certain scenes. But the director was not completely immerse the audience in the emotional threads of the lead characters. Moreover, the attempt to show the film in a different kind of world/backdrop did not work out.

The idea of connecting Vinayak’s personal loss and his trauma in the case that he’s investigating seems good, but does not sync into the narrative because of false tone of emotion in his family scenes except for one or two. The second half gets a bit better at the initial phase, but soon it delves into a bland affair with the wait for the real Killer getting exhausting. The final twist also lacks the punch and the reason behind the murder looks silly.

Performances: Vijay Antony was fine in his role, but his hairdo looked improper. Ritika Singh, and Meenakshi Chaudhary were fine, while Radhika Sharath Kumar got wasted in an insignificant role. Murali Sharma, John Vijay and others were ok.

Verdict:

Overall, the film has an interesting idea, technical excellence and a few scenes which work well. But somehow it lacks that original and powerful writing which makes it a boring treat.
