Bedurulanka 2012 off to a very good start at the box office – Area wise detailed report

Bedurulanka 2012 stars Kartikeya Gummakonda and Neha Shetty of ‘DJ Tillu’ fame in lead roles. Loukya Entertainments’ Ravindra Banerjee (Benny) has produced the movie, which is presented by C Yuvraju. Clax has directed it. This dramedy was released on August 25, and opened to positive response from the audiences, though the reviews were a bit mixed. At the box office, the film is off to a good start.

Rajinikanth’s star-studded mega film launched today

Superstar Rajinikanth is celebrating the success of his recently released film, ‘Jailer’. Thalaivar visited the Himalayas, Lucknow, Ranchi, and Ayodhya on a spiritual tour just a few days before the film’s release. Nonetheless, the actor is committed to not wasting time. He is ready to start shooting for his upcoming film with TJ Gnanavel of ‘Jai Bhim’ fame.

According to the reports, the film has been launched today in a special Pooja at Leela Palace in Chennai. The fans of Superstar Rajinikanth are very excited about this project as it is being helmed by TJ Gnanavel who has received superb appreciation for his previous film.

Moreover, the film has shaped into a mega film with a star-studded cast such as Big B, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharwanand, Fahad Faasil , Manju Warrier. Reportedly, Rajinikanth will appear in a powerful cop role in this film and the main theme of it is the protagonist going against the fake encounters.

The film in the combination of Rajinikanth and TJ Gnanavel was announced at the beginning of the year by Lyca Productions. The film’s shooting will commence in the third week of September in Chennai, according to sources close to the team. The set work is in progress at the moment.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya released for Sankranti posted career best numbers for Chiranjeevi and stands at All Time TOP6 in Tollywood history. The theatrical rights of this film were valued at 88Crs and the film went on to be a massive profit venture collecting a share of Rs 129Crs. 

Sai Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha came up with a low buzz before its release but with the help of positive talk became a massive blockbuster and the film had a terrific run at the box office. The film was a surprise blockbuster and the biggest hit of Sai Dharam Tej’s career. Nobody expected this much revenue for the film and it stunned many with its run.

The great record set by Chiranjeevi and Sai Dharam tej couldn’t be continued and all the next films from the mega heroes went on to become box-office failures. It all started with Bro: The Avatar starring two mega heroes- Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej. The film ended up as a below-average fare.

This was followed by the biggest disaster in recent ties i.e. Bhola Shankar. The film brought massive losses to every party involved. This week’s release Gandeevadhari Arjuna has also emerged as a massive disaster marking successive failure for Varun Tej after Ghani.

But Salaar distributors have done exactly what they intended to do and have fulfilled the promise thanks to their efficient planning.

Prathyangira Cinemas, who are distributing the film in the USA promised that this Prabhas starter will have a record release ever for Indian cinema. And just as promised the movie will be released with all big chains and Imax screens being blocked for the film. The advance bookings are slowly opening on many screens and the trend of advance booking is sensational as the pre-sales are said to be in the range of $300K and already and $3 Million dollar premiers are expected.

Salaar is expected to smash some box-office records considering the kind of hype it has created so far. King of Kotha witnesses a big drop in collections

Dulquer Salmaan’s ambitious pan-India project King of Kotha was released on this Thursday, I.e. August 24th amidst massive hype. Everyone expected the film to have a record opening at the box office and cross KGF 2 collections that holds the first position in the biggest opener in Kerala. But the word of mouth and mixed reviews have impacted the film. However, it gathered superb numbers on day 1 and stood in Top 2 position.

After a good opening day in all languages, the film saw a huge drop on day 2 in all languages including Malayalam. In Kerala on the 1st day the film opened with 5.75Cr gross and on the 2nd day it witnessed more than 50% drop and just collected in the range of 2Cr+. In other territories, on the 1st day, King Of Kotha opened with good numbers but on the 2nd day it completely crashed at the box office. If the film did not witness a big jump for today and tomorrow, then it will end up as a big failure.

The pan-India project was released in all South Indian languages and Hindi. The gangster drama is directed by debutant Abhilash Joshiy and produced by ZEE Studios and Dulquer Salmaan’s home production Wayfarer Films. King Of Kotha is a gangster drama with a perfect blend of emotions, romance, and comedy.

Apart from Dulquer, the film also stars Dancing Rose (Sarpatta Parambarai fame), Prasanna, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nyla Usha, Chemban Vinod, Gokul Suresh, Shammi Thilakan, Shanthi Krishna, Vada Chennai Saran, and Anikha Surendran. Set in the 1990s, in a fictional town named Kotha, the film is a tale of revenge and redemption.

Jailer creates a new benchmark for Kollywood at box office

With no other big film in sight, Rajinikanth’s Jailer is continuing its victory run into its third week as well. The film has already established several records in multiple territories beyond Tamil Nadu and has emerged as the biggest blockbuster of the year in many areas. Due to its exceptional performance, Jailer has now become the 1st film ever to collect 50Cr gross in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telugu states. It is a new benchmark for Kollywood.

In Tamil Nadu, the movie has collected in the range of Rs 170Cr gross while AP and Telangana contributed the next biggest number with Rs 75Cr+ gross. Karnataka collections brought in Rs 57Cr+ gross while Kerala became the latest entrant into the Rs 50 crores club with Rs50Cr+ gross and counting. Jailer is also the 1st Kollywood film to collect more than Rs 50Cr gross in Kerala and Karnataka.

Jailer directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, stars Rajinikanth as retired police officer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Apart from Rajinikanth, Jailer also features Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles. Veteran stars Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, and Jackie Shroff also appear in the film which has been produced by Sun Pictures. Jailer’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Mahesh Babu says no to early promotions for Guntur Kaaram

Mahesh Babu and Trivikram’s Guntur Kaaram is finally getting into a good phase in its filming after going through many changes in its cast and crew. The film’s promotions were about to start with the first single’s release but the film’s lead, Mahesh Babu said no to early promotions according to the reports.

Even at the time of his birthday, Mahesh Babu himself informed the team to not release any teaser or promo of Guntur Kaaram as the team had already released a glimpse on the occasion of Late Superstar Krishna Gaaru’s Birth Anniversary and Mahesh feels releasing more content so early is not at all needed for the film as it will be released on Sankranthi.

The team of Guntur Kaaram had planned to release the first single in this month, but Mahesh again said no to release it as he does not want to release the song without any occasion, and he feels it is too early for it.

Reportedly, Mahesh has informed the team to plan the first single’s release for Vinayaka Chavithi or Dasara festival. Meanwhile, the shooting of Guntur Kaaram is happening at a rapid pace and the team is working with double energy all the day. As per the reports, the team is in plans to wrap the entire shoot part by November itself.

Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, Guntur Kaaram marks the third collaboration between him and Superstar Mahesh Babu after Athadu and Khaleja. The project is being produced under the Haarika and Hassine Creations banner. The film also stars Sree Leela and Meenakshi Choudhary, who will be sharing the screen with Mahesh for the first time. S Thaman is the music director of the film.

In Kerala, the film has collected Rs5.8 Cr gross, and from other territories, the film has collected around Rs 2.8 gross on Day 1. This brings the total India opening day gross to Rs 8.6Cr. Overseas, King of Kotha collected more than $800K+ gross which is approximately Rs 6.8Cr. The total worldwide gross is 15.4Cr marking the film as the 2nd biggest opening for Dulquer Salmaan after his own film Kurup.
