Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer took the Oscars by storm and bagged seven Oscars, including ‘The Best Picture’ award, ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Actor’. The biographical film about Robert Oppenheimer – the father of the atomic bomb earned a nomination in 13 categories at the 2024 Oscars Award.
Cillian Murphy won the ‘Best Actor’ award for Oppenheimer while Christopher Nolan won the ‘Best Director’ award. Robert Downey Jr was awarded with the Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 96th Academy Awards.
During his Oscars acceptance speech, an elated Nolan said, “We don’t know where this incredible journey is going from here. But to know that you think that I’m a meaningful part of it means the world to me.”
Oppenheimer won the Oscars for Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, and Best Film Editing as well making it the first Christopher Nolan film to win an award in so many categories.
Cillian Murphy in his acceptance speech said, “We made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb. And for better or for worse, we’re all living in Oppenheimer’s world”.
The film was released globally last July to massive buzz and heavy expectations from the fans. The film was a box-office blockbuster and received critical acclaim along with the audience’s love.
