You heard it right! These star-studded projects are struggling to find distributors for theatrical releases. Reason? Because of the exorbitant prices the makers are quoting. Mythri Movie Makers and Vyjayanthi Movies, the production companies of these films, respectively, are reportedly quoting INR 100 crore each for overseas Andhra Pradesh regions and a whopping INR 80 crore for Nizam alone.; these figures are on par or even higher than that of RRR (2022).
While Kalki 2898 AD is certainly a monumental film, Nag Ashwin is not a brand among the masses like S. S. Rajamouli; moreover, he is just two films old, which too were aimed at multiplex audiences only. Pushpa-2, on the other hand, is a unique case; it’s a massive project that’s carrying tremendous buzz, but not to forget, it’s the sequel to Pushpa: The Rise (2021), which was a below-average grosser in Telugu states. While the underperformance of Pushpa can be attributed to low ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh, the rates that are being quoted are simply unreasonable.
