Rajnikanth is currently on a high due to the success of his recently released Nelson Dilipkumar directed movie, Jailer. The film has made it to the Rs 600 crore club globally and is already the second highest-grossing Tamil film of all time worldwide. The top spot is again occupied by 2 Point 0, another Rajinikanth starrer. The latest reports suggest that Rajinikanth is ready to commence shooting for his next project, tentatively titled Thalaivar 170, directed by Jai Bhim fame TJ Gnanavel.
The film is set to be released by mid-next year and will be on the shelves by the end of September. The cast of this action drama is growing by the day, as per the sources close to the development. The film is said to have many important characters along with the lead one played by Rajini, and the hero’s like Nani and Sharwanand were reportedly approached by the Thalaivar 170 Makers, but they declined the offer for the reasons best known to themselves.
Rana Daggubati and Manju Warrier are the latest additions to the cast after Amitabh Bachchan and Fahadh Faasil. Nani and Sharwanand appeared in the news for the same role at first. TJ Gnanavel is looking to bring some of the most recognized actors of all industries aboard Thalaivar 170. It is indeed a special movie, and it looks like he is making sure to bring in the best names. While Amitabh Bachchan is from the Hindi Film Industry, Fahadh Faasil has joined in from Malayalam, and Rana has come on board from the Telugu film industry.
The Tamil industry is abuzz with reports that Rajinikanth will be playing a cop in the film, but there are still no details about other characters. After finishing his work on TJ Gnanavel’s film, Rajinikanth should start filming for director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film.
Thalaivar 170 is being produced by LYCA Productions, and it will mark the reunion of the banner with Superstar Rajinikanth after 2 Point 0.
