The two biggest stars of Mollywood have faced the biggest disasters at the same time

Mohanlal starrer Malayalam action film Monster was released in cinema halls on October 21. It was set against Nivin Pauly’s Padavettu at the box office. While both movies were foreseen to do good business on the first weekend, paving the way for a decent box office pull post-Diwali, the numbers tell a different story altogether.

Surprisingly, both Monster and Padavettu, featuring the industry’s most loved stars, have fallen flat to draw the audience to the cinema halls and the business in the domestic market has been very insufficient.

Huge expectations were relying on Monster because of the hit combination of Puli Murugan, but the reviews of fans and critics for the film were very disappointing.

Even though Mohan Lal is the biggest star of Kerala cinema, His film Monster had a disastrous number at the box office, The film just collected around 5Cr gross in Kerala and the worldwide gross is around 6.5 Cr in 1st week which is a very shocking number for a big star. These 1st week’s numbers are lower than Mohan Lal’s stardom and opening day numbers of his earlier movies.

Meanwhile, Nivin Pauly’s Padavettu, which was released alongside Monster has also done unsatisfactory numbers in the opening weekend.

Padavettu has just collected 3Cr gross in 1st week which is a disastrous number. The film did receive decent reviews and opened to positive responses from the audience but still, it became a huge box office failure. This came as a shocker for fans of both heroes and the trade circles are also wondering what is the reason for the low openings of these films.

Looks like Monster is going to be another flop for Mohanlal. In 2022, Mohanlal’s Bro Daddy and 12th Man were released directly into OTT. Aaraattu was released in cinema halls but was a disaster. And the Marakkar movie which was released with huge hype last December was also a flop.
