Sriram Adithya’s Manamey starring Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty in lead roles is the latest Tollywood release of the week. While the film has not managed to create a massive buzz and expectations, the makers are hoping the initial talks will help the film get off a good start at the box-office. Let’s find out if the movie succeeded in capturing the audience’s attention or not.
Story:
Maname follows the life of Vikram (Sharwanand) a carefree youngster from London. Due to a cruel twist of fate he has to become a caretaker of the child of his friends who passed away in a road accident. He is joined by Subhadra (Kirthi Shetty) and the couple have to co-parent the child. Both Vikram and Subhadra are poles apart in terms of their approach to life. How they set aside their differences and whether they manage to successfully take care of the child amidst personality clashes is what the movie follows.
Performances:
Sharwanand has played similar characters many times in his career and he shines here as well. His comic timing as well performance in emotional scenes are a treat to watch. Krithi Shetty has got a meaty role and does justice to her portions as well. Apart from the lead pair, other characters like Seerat Kapoor, Ayesha Khan etc. have half-baked roles and make no difference to the movie.
Positives:
- Lead actor’s performances
- 1st half
- Visuals and Music
- Dialogues and entertainment
Negatives:
- Weak emotions
- 2nd Half
- Lengthy and unnecessary filler scenes
- Predictable story and screenplay
Verdict:
Manamey starts well and provides a good balance of entertainment, comedy and drama in the first half. Sharwanand manages to shoulder the movie despite weak writing in parts. But it’s the second half where the same flow gets disturbed and might test the audience’s patience. Overall, it’s a decent watch if you’re in the mood for some lighthearted fun and family drama.
