Megastar Chiranjeevi joined hands with Anil Ravipudi for the first time for the family entertainer Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu. The movie features Nayanthara as the female lead and Victory Venkatesh appearing in a cameo added more buzz, with the songs also working well. Let us see how the film has been shape up in the following review.
Story:
Shankara Varaprasad (Chiranjeevi) is an NIA officer who gets separated from his wife, Sasirekha (Nayanthara), a rich woman. After six years, he gets a chance to meet his kids, and the rest of the story is about how Prasad fixes his marriage and also saves his family from a threat.
Performances:
Chiranjeevi has given a solid treat in MSG with his natural ease in delivering dialogues and perfect screen presence. He also does well in a few emotional scenes and carries the entire film on his shoulders. Nayanthara does well as Sasirekha, while Catherine Theresa, Harshavardhan, Zarina Wahab, Abhinav Gomatam, Sachin Khedekar, and others are apt. Venkatesh appears in a cameo and provides some fun.
Analysis:
Director Anil Ravipudi promised that he will bring back the vintage Megastar on screen with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, and he lives up to his promise. Right from the start to the end, he presents Chiranjeevi impressively and effectively. The first half starts on a solid note with the hero introduction episode and song working well.
The flow goes well for a while, and in between, some scenes do not land as expected, but the scenes of Chiranjeevi with kids gradually get better, and the pre-interval and interval portions work very well.
Coming to the second half, the fun flow continues, and the crucial scene between Nayanthara and Zarina Wahab is also effective, followed by the Chiranjeevi and his kids sequence. Also, the party scene, followed by the Meesaala Pilla song, delivers the right impact. Venky’s cameo also adds some fun, and the climax episode is alright.
On the flip side, the storytelling in the second half could have been better. For example, the enter villain track is basic and does not add any threat value. Anil could have put some more scenes between Chiranjeevi and the kids in the second half. The expectations for the Venky cameo are also high, and some may get disappointed with the casual handling of his role.
Positives:
- Megastar Chiranjeevi’s screen presence and comedy timing
- Entertaining Moments
- Few Emotional Scenes
- Songs
Negatives:
- Weak Villain Track
- Some comedy scenes don’t land
- The second half kinda falls flat at times
Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu Review and Verdict:
Anil Ravipudi delivers a clean family entertainer by using Chiranjeevi’s full potential, bringing back his vintage entertainment. All songs look appealing on screen. There are many fun moments, and the action episodes are also well composed. Though there are some issues in the latter half, it manages to engage all the way.
