Madras HC received a Petition for a 3-day ban on film reviews. The Tamil producers are going against the reviews of the films on the first day since a few days ago. They felt that the movies have been affected by the online negative reviews. Suriya’s Kanguva and Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan were cited as examples by the Tamil Producers.
Now, the Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) has filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the Centre as well as the State government to ban the reviews of movies for three days, from the date of their theatrical release, on social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and X.
It is said to be only for negative reviews as Producers concerned about negative reviews are killing the films. They are not against positive reviews and social media users can post them immediately. However, the petition at the Madras High Court is likely to be canceled as the audiences cannot stop sharing their opinion and it is not possible to restrict them in this social media age. We need to see how the court decides on this issue.
