MAD Square, the follow-up to the hit comedy MAD (2023), has created a huge buzz among viewers. The film’s teaser and trailer have been very effective, complemented by a popular song, Swathi Reddy. Let’s find out whether the film is as hilarious as it intended.

Story:

Manoj (Ram Nithin), Ashok (Nithin Narne), and Damodar -DD (Sangeeth Shobhan), arrive at wedding their best friend Laddu (Vishnu Oi). The rest of the story highlights the Friends gang’s chaotic and funny adventures.

Performances:

Sangeeth Sobhan, Narne Nithiin, and Ram Nithin engage audiences effectively, with Sangeeth shining brightly due to his impressive energy in key moments. Vishnu Oi excels as Laddu, making his struggles and frustrated reactions entertaining for viewers. Muralidhar Goud shines as his father, bringing humor with perfect comedic timing. Sunil, as Bhai, fails to make a mark, except for a few with Muralidhar Goud. Supporting characters like Antony and Satyam Rajesh were not utilized properly.

Analysis:

MAD Square is a lighthearted coming-of-age comedy that delivers a fair share of laughs. The film lacks a strong plot but excels in entertaining moments and the chemistry among Sangeeth Sobhan, Narne Nithiin, Ram Nithin, and Vishnu Oi.The movie includes well-done comedic moments, notably at Laddu’s wedding in the first half. Some points in the second half shine, such as Suneel and Muralidhar Goud’s interactions.

As said by the producers of MAD Sequel, the film features minimal story, but the real issue is the inconsistency in providing laughs. Some jokes fail to impress, making the humor feel unnatural at times. A significant twist occurs at the climax, yet it fails to resonate. The film does not have the entertaining vibe and catchy tunes present in the original.

Positives:

  • Energetic Performances from the Lead Cast
  • Fun Episodes
  • Swathi Reddy Song

Negatives:

  • Repetitive/Forced Humor
  • Boring Moments
  • Music

MAD Square Movie Review and Verdict:

Director Kalyan Shankar intends to make a fun sequel with MAD Square, yet misses the mark slightly. The film has enough fun moments, to entertain along with boring parts. All the lead actors perform well in the film.
