Lyca Productions entered Kollywood with a sensational debut blockbuster of Vijay, AR Murugadoss’s Kaththi. Over the years, the banner made many big films, but they faced failures for the most part. The latest shocking news is that Lyca Productions will shut down soon.
After a big blockbuster like Kaththi, the production house has seen many ups and downs continuously, and recently they hit rock bottom with very big losses. Lyca Productions’ recent films are Chandramukhi 2, Mission: Chapter One, Indian 2, Lal Salaam, Vettaiyan, and the latest Vidaamuyarchi. All movies have resulted in big losses for the banner.
The production house lost heavy amounts with Rajinikanth and Shankar’s films. 2.0, Darbar, Lal Salaam, Vettaiyan, and Indian 2. These films resulted in massive loss ventures for them, and their recent release, Ajith’s Vidaamuyarchi, also resulted in a massive loss of crores.
With such back-to-back big failures, Lyca Productions is said to be shutting down. Lately, the Lyca team stepped out of Mohanlal’s Emuparaan by taking the invested money, and Gokulam Movies replaced them.
Lyca has two movies in the pipeline; one is Indian 3, which has almost completed the shooting, and they need to finish the works to recover at least some percentage of money, and their second film is Vijay’s son, Jason Sanjay’s debut directorial film with Sundeep Kishan as the lead.
After completing the two movies in their hands, the production house will most likely not produce any films as per reports.
