Kanguva: The Danger of Overhyping

Sometimes overhyping the content of a film to extremes can damage a film massively after release. While it’s understandable that everyone promotes their film as a good one with great content, there’s a risk of it hitting back hard in case of failure. This is something many feel about Suriya’s upcoming pan-India biggie Kanguva directed by Siva.

For Kanguva, the team is hyping the film massively by saying it has visuals never before in Kollywood as well as Indian cinema. While this is a common statement made for every pan-India film, the unit is terming it a pan-world film that will be released in English and other international languages simultaneously.

In a recent interview, Kanguva producer said that they are expecting the film to make it to the 2000 Cr club. While it can be said he meant it on a lighter note, these comments may hit back after the release.

The producer further added that he will post the collections with GST bills and that the promotions will be very huge on a pan India level and it will have a release on 3500+ screens in north India. Such extreme statements may work out well for creating hype, but might backfire if the result turns out negative.
