Kaantha, starring Dulquer Salmaan, released this Diwali, and the film had a disappointing 1st weekend at the box office. The film also stars Bhagyashree Borse, Samuthirakani, and Rana Daggubati in crucial roles.
In Telugu, the film started with very low collections and failed to see a minimal jump on day 2 and day 3 as well. The total Telugu states’ 1st weekend gross is around 5 Cr, which is a very disappointing collection for the film.
In Tamil Nadu, for the weekend, the film has collected around 6.5 Cr gross. Tamil Nadu is the main territory for the film, but even here, it receives poor numbers. Surprisingly, Kerala showed a better hold compared to the Telugu states and Tamil Nadu, with 3.2 Cr gross.
Dulquer Salmaan’s Kaantha had a disappointing first weekend, and even the ROI and overseas numbers are not that great. Overall, for the 1st weekend, the film’s worldwide gross is around 23 Cr.
Before release, the trade’s expectations were near the 100 Cr club after the Chennai press premiere’s positive responses, but now doing 50 Cr is also a very tough task, as the movie’s content fails to work for audiences.
