Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Kaaka glimpse released on his birthday, with the makers officially announcing a January 13, 2027 release. But that same slot has now become the centre of a rare situation , Chiranjeevi competing with himself for a release date.
The Vishwambhara Complication
Chiranjeevi’s other long-pending film, Vishwambhara, completed shooting long ago but has been stuck in continuous postponements over financial issues and post-production delays. The film has now locked its OTT deal with Prime Video and is targeting Sankranthi 2027 – the exact same slot as Kaaka. With crores invested in both projects, and both teams wanting the festival slot, this puts Chiranjeevi in a genuine huddle. Industry circles report that the Kaaka team has been approached by the Vishwambhara side to have Chiranjeevi personally resolve the clash.
Despite that, the makers have now officially confirmed Kaaka is arriving on January 13, 2027 as announced, with the first single also on the way , putting all speculation to rest from their end.
A Tough Spot for Vishwambhara
This statement puts Vishwambhara in a difficult position. The film now needs to find a release slot that maintains a healthy gap from Kaaka, and even that will require the OTT platform’s cooperation in the negotiations. The delays have already put the producers at financial risk, with theatrical recovery becoming the only real way to cover the deficit and further delay only adds to that financial burden.
Financial Pressure on Both Sides
The stakes go beyond scheduling. Kaaka’s producer KVN Productions is already dealing with the outright failure of Toxic and the underwhelming run of Jana Nayagan, leaving them in no position to absorb further delays or financial strain. Sankranthi remains the biggest release window of the year , one that neither side wants to give up.
