Chiranjeevi Takes His Fight Against Deepfakes to Amit Shah

Chiranjeevi complaints to Amit Shah on his AI misuse

Megastar Chiranjeevi has taken his fight against AI misuse and deepfakes to the highest level. The actor met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Hyderabad today and sought stronger safeguards to protect artists from morphed and degrading content.

Ram Charan accompanied his father to the meeting and also met the Union Home Minister.

From Social Media to the Home Minister

Chiranjeevi had recently raised his concerns on X about degrading and morphed videos targeting artists. Instead of stopping there, he decided to take the issue forward in person.

He sought an appointment with Amit Shah to personally explain how artificial intelligence and deepfake technology are being misused, and the serious threat they pose to artists’ rights, dignity and creative work.

Speaking for the Film Fraternity

Chiranjeevi didn’t raise the issue only for himself. On behalf of the film fraternity, he asked for stronger safeguards and strict action against those misusing such technology.

Amit Shah Promises Action

Amit Shah listened to the concerns with understanding and assured Chiranjeevi that the government would examine the matter urgently. He said the government would work towards stronger safeguards and strict penalties for such misuse.

The Home Minister also advised Chiranjeevi to submit a written representation, and he gave Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy the responsibility of coordinating the matter.

Chiranjeevi Thanks the Minister

Chiranjeevi thanked Amit Shah for his response. He called the assurance an encouraging step for the film fraternity and said he hoped it would lead to meaningful protections soon.

A Growing Problem for Stars

Deepfakes and AI-morphed videos have become a serious problem for film stars in recent years. Fake videos using the faces and voices of celebrities are spreading quickly on social media, often in degrading or misleading ways, and many stars have approached the courts to protect their image.

With one of Telugu cinema’s biggest names now taking the issue directly to the Union Home Minister, the film industry will be hoping for real action soon.
