Jana Nayagan Telugu Distributor Backs Out

Jana Nayakudu, the Telugu Version of Jana Nayagan starring Vijay, is not getting released

Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is all set to arrive in theaters worldwide on January 9, 2026, and the film’s Telugu version, Jana Nayakudu, was also expected to arrive on the same day. But the latest news is that the Telugu distributor has backed out of the film.

Produced by KVN Productions and directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan has done strong business in Tamil territories, thanks to Vijay’s stardom and the craze from his previous film. However, the movie is not carrying the same buzz in the Telugu states. The reason is that audiences feel it is a remake of the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari. Although the team insists they only took inspiration and not the full story, Telugu viewers believe it is an official remake. Adding to this, the Sankranthi season already has several big releases lined up, giving audiences plenty of options.

Initially, Sitara Entertainments was in talks with the producers to release the Jana Nayagan in Telugu on an advance basis. But after discussions with distributors, they reportedly backed out, as their own film Anaganaga Oka Raju is also releasing during Sankranthi. Distributors felt it would be an unnecessary burden.

With Naga Vamsi stepping away, finding another distributor has become difficult for Jana Nayagan. While the producers can still secure a release, no distributor is willing to take the risk of paying the quoted advance amount. It remains to be seen who will finally step in to release the film in Telugu.
