Jana Nayagan Release Options

The Supreme Court declined to intervene in the CBFC row over ‘Jana Nayagan’, leaving the decision to the Madras High Court, which will hear the case on January 20. The makers have yet to receive the go-ahead regarding the release.

The team is expecting a positive verdict on January 20. If that doesn’t happen, it will be a major setback for the film, because of the CBFC row, Jana Nayagan now has very limited release options.

Jana Nayagan may hit theaters after the elections if its release continues to be delayed.

Considering all markets and political scenarios, the only possible release dates are January 30, February 6, or February 13. If these dates are missed, the film will most likely be pushed to after June, as the election code of conduct rules will not allow a release close to the polls.

Directed by H.Vinoth, the film was all set to arrive in theaters on January 9th, but an internal complaint from a censor committee member stalled its censorship, citing that the film contains scenes that hurt religious sentiments and provide an objectionable portrayal of the armed forces.
