Jaabilamma Neeku Antha Kopama is the latest romantic comedy. The film is originally made in Tamil, titled as NEEK (Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam) and it is directed by Dhanush, Anikha Surendran and other young actors in the lead roles. Let’s check out how the film has been shaped up.

Story:

NEEK’s story is about Prabhu (Pavish Narayan) and Preethi (Priya Prakash Varrier), who are childhood friends and meet for a marriage alliance. They have a good time together, and all seems okay until Prabhu finds out that Nila (Anikha Surendhan), his previous girlfriend, is about to get married. Prabhu tells about his past love life to Preethi, and the rest of the story follows how these young people navigate their lives.

Pavish looks like Dhanush with his clean-shaven appearance, giving off a boy-next-door vibe. He performs impressively. Anikha Surendran plays Nila decently, while Venkatesh Menon and Rabiya Khatoon are okay in their roles as Ravi and Shriya. Ramya Ranganathan is impressive in her character as Anjali. But it is Matthew Thomas, who gets the routine friend role, provides many laughs. Priya Prakash Varrier and R Sarathkumar are fine.

Analysis:

In NEEK, directed by Dhanush, the characters and screenplay emphasize practical aspects over emotional ones. The serious scenes in the film just come as small flashes, and do not stress the effect. The film tries to tickle all the boxes that connect to Gen Z themes. Youngsters meeting at the parties and taking the life-changing decisions in quick time is shown perfectly.

The entertaining parts in both the first and second halves work effectively. However, there are still elements of dullness and predictability in the proceedings. The climax also looks somewhat weird.

Jaabilamma Neeku Antha Kopama Movie Review and Verdict:
