Ilaiyaraaja issues a legal notice on Rajinikanth’s Coolie

The recently released Coolie teaser starring Rajinikanth has filled the superstar fans with great excitement. While the teaser is being appreciated for Rajini’s screen presence and inimitable style, the makers of the film have found themselves in legal trouble.

Music maestro Ilaiyyaraja has issued a legal notice to Sun Pictures as his “Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa” song was used in the glimpse of Coolie. He also said that they should now get his approval or remove the song from the glimpse.

Ilaiyaraaja originally composed this song is from the director Bharathiraja’s film titled Thanga Magan. SP Balasubrahmanyam and Vani Jairam have rendered vocals to this track penned by Muthulingam. The notice mentioned that creating a recreated version of this track is a crime under the Copyright Act, of 1957.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is directing this project which will see Rajinikanth in the role of a smuggler. The action entertainer which also stars Shruti Haasan is the most awaited project of Tamil industry as both Rajini and Lokesh are in great form thanks to Jailer and Leo’s success.
