Ghaati reunites acclaimed actress Anushka Shetty with director Krish Jagarlamudi after nearly fifteen years. The action drama has hit theatres today, this gripping crime-action drama has already stirred high anticipation among fans and critics alike, and it’s time to know how this film has been shaped up in our review.

Story:

Sheela (Anushka) and Desi Raju (Vikram Prabhu) work as Ghaatis. They want to save and make the lives of fellow Ghaatis/villagers. The rest of the film is about what problems they faced in achieving their dreams.

Performances:

Anushka Shetty is back on screen with Ghaati after some time away. Sadly, her role just does not have enough strength, and she fails to leave a mark with her acting.

Vikram Prabhu has an important character, and he pulls it off pretty well. Chaitanya Rao takes on the role of the main antagonist, but he does not quite make an impact after the first few scenes because his character feels too loud and clichéd.

There’s nothing remarkable about Jagapathi Babu’s character. Ravindra Vijay, Raju Sundaram, and others are okay.

Analysis:

Director Krish is known for making films with different stories. With Ghaati, he tries out a new setting of cannabis in the Eastern Ghats. At first, the film grabs your attention with its concept, but as the characters come into play, it ends up feeling pretty standard.

The intermission episode hits as a noisy, prolonged, and pretty flat experience. Rather than evoking sympathy for the lead characters, it kind of leaves a bad taste.

You get a hint of emotion at the start of the second half, but then it fails to continue the impact and does not hit hard enough. The backstory for Vikram Prabhu and Anushka should have packed a bigger emotional punch.

Krish struggles to present the villains because they are just too cartoonish, which ends up making the action sequences fall flat, including the final showdown.

Positives:

  • Initial Moments
  • Some Important Scenes

Negatives:

  • Ineffective Emotions
  • Outdated Narration
  • Weak Villain Characters
  • Loud Songs/Background Score

Ghaati Movie Review and Verdict:

Krish Jagarlamudi’s Ghaati could have been an exciting action drama, but it fails to provide the right effect because of its stale storytelling and feeble emotions.
