Renowned filmmaker Shankar is gearing up for the release of his Telugu directorial debut, ‘Game Changer’, slated for a grand release on January 10, coinciding with the festive Pongal season. In an interview Shankar delved into the making of the film, his approach to storytelling, and working with Ram Charan.
‘Game Changer’ is Shankar’s first straight Telugu film, which will also be released in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. “Chiranjeevi Sir has watched the film and was thoroughly impressed. His confidence in its success gives me immense hope,” Shankar shared.
Discussing Ram Charan’s involvement, he revealed that the process fell into place naturally. “It’s always about timing, availability, and interest. With Ram Charan and producer Dil Raju, everything aligned perfectly,” he explained. Shankar praised Ram Charan’s innate energy, describing it as “a controlled power that erupts with impact when needed,” highlighting the actor’s ability to balance subtlety with intense emotions.
While Shankar’s films often tackle corruption, ‘Game Changer’ explores governance from an administrative officer’s perspective. Though inspired by a script from Karthik Subbaraj, Shankar emphasized that it does not portray any specific individual.
Adapting another filmmaker’s story was a new challenge for Shankar. “It was about maintaining Karthik’s essence while incorporating my vision. I hope I’ve done justice,” he remarked. He believes in the supremacy of content, noting, “Grand visuals support the narrative, but a well-crafted story ensures success.” With expectations soaring, ‘Game Changer’ promises to blend strong storytelling with Shankar’s signature grandeur.
