This year’s Diwali season offered a big push for films. Three films that released such as Lucky Baskhar, KA and Amaran rocked the box office equally. In Tamil Nadu, Amaran made a rampage at the box office and Lucky Baskhar did the same in Telugu States as well. In Hindi market, Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 showed their dominance equally. But are these indicating any setback for Kanguva? The answer could be, Yes.
Kanguva was originally scheduled for release during the Dussehra season this year. But this was spoiled by Vettaiyan starring Rajinikanth which fixed the same release season. The team of Kanguva then postponed the film to avoid this clash. The next release season would be Diwali but they have avoided this as well. The sole reason would be to avoid clashes with other language releases.
But this plan now looks to have damaged Kanguva. All the films that released during the Diwali in most languages are still running strong with packed theatres. So, getting most screens for Kanguva in just a week later wouldn’t be possible. And also the audience who haven’t watched all these successful films wouldn’t want to come to theatres again for another film within the span of 2 weekends as they still give preference to watching these films first. And the people who watched these wouldn’t watch a new film again immediately.
So, Kanguva must post a strong positive word of mouth to bring all the audiences to the theatres again. The genre, big budget and Suriya’s stardom may be a big plus for the film. The team is also doing extensive promotions across the country. The film is slated for release on 14th November worlwide. So, let’s wait and see what happens then.
