Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger has been the talk of the town for the last few days and, for all the wrong reasons. The film bombed at the box office and the makers, distributors as well as exhibitors are in huge losses.
As a result of this, the distributors are expecting compensation for the losses incurred. According to the distributors of the film, Liger has done terrific business with the theatrical and non-theatrical rights. The theatrical rights of the film were valued at around 90 crores and the non-theatrical rights were valued at 85+ crores.
In total, the business of Liger comes up to 175+ crores. Using this, the distributors are making a case that the producers can easily compensate for the losses. Even if the budget of Liger is 100 crores, the makers at least have 70+ crores in table profits.
Puri Jagannadh has started discussions with the makers now to compensate for the losses. He is also involving Vijay Deverakonda in the discussions. Even then, it might be hard to recover the losses as it has been completely dismissed by the audience. With Karan Johar busy handling the release of Brahmastra, Puri and Charmee will have to focus on compensating the losses alone.
