Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, is inspired by real events and revolves around the gritty world of espionage. The story follows a star-studded ensemble of characters, and it produced a huge anticipation with its promos and posters.

Story:

Dhurandhar is set against the backdrop of the 1999 IC-814 Kandahar hijacking and the 2001 Parliament attack, and narrates the story of a secret mission by the Intelligence Bureau in Pakistan.

Performances:

Ranveer Singh fits seamlessly into the role, delivering a restrained performance that perfectly captures the character’s essence. Akshaye Khanna shines in a crucial role, proving to be a fantastic watch as he embodies a ruthless, negative character with perfection. Sanjay Dutt makes a significant impact, and R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, and the rest of the cast deliver strong performances.

Analysis:

Director Aditya Dhar took some real events and mixed them with made-up stuff to show the characters in Dhurandhar. The movie starts by showing how Pakistani gangs, politicians, and the ISI work together to cause trouble for India.

The film also touches upon the friction between resident Pakistanis and Balochs. The initial sequence is intriguing, and the mission’s introduction, including Ranveer’s entry, is well-executed. However, the first half feels overly lengthy despite its earnest tone, and some filler scenes could have been cut.

The second half starts on a strong note, and it features some impactful episodes. The scenes involving Akshaye Khanna’s arrest and release, as well as the political game surrounding Ranveer’s character, are particularly engaging. The final 30 minutes are perfectly crafted and conclude with a promising teaser for the sequel.

Positives:

  • Performances
  • Effective Scenes/Dialogues
  • Sincere Narration
  • Music

Negatives:

  • The Pacing Falters in Certain Moments
  • Repetitive Moments Here And there
  • Excessive Violence

Dhurandhar Review and Verdict:

Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, gains momentum from solid acting, captivating dialogue/scenes, and a good soundtrack. Although the extended runtime occasionally disrupts the narrative, and certain parts are lackluster, it still offers a worthwhile experience.
