After Pa Paandi and Raayan, Dhanush’s 3rd directional film NEEK (Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam) was released yesterday. In Telugu, the film was titled Jabillama Neeku Antha Kopama along with Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon (Return of the Dragon in Telugu). Despite getting positive reviews from audiences and reviewers in Telugu and Tamil, the film is struggling to put up good numbers. Dhanush’s NEEK is appreciated, but it is heading towards a box office dud.
Dhanush’s NEEK: Good Reviews but Dull Collections
As said above, the film opened with decent Word of Mouth and reviews in Tamil, and Telugu. Dhanush gets good appreciation for his direction, and everyone expected it to be a hat trick success for Dhanush.
However, the film took a very slow start in both Telugu and Tamil and did not even show any growth for evening and night shows as well. Even for the weekend, there is also no improvement in advance bookings for the film.
Pradeep Ranganathan wins over Dhanush
The main reason is the film got released in competition with another film, Dragon, in both Telugu and Tamil. Both audiences picked Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon as their first preference, as it opened with better talk and a craze in audiences. Dragon starts with a huge start and impacts NEEK.
Dhanush’s NEEK is appreciated, but it is heading towards a box office dud, and if the film fails to take a jump today or tomorrow, then it will end up as a box office failure even with these decent reviews.
Vidaamuyarchi Kills NEEK:
NEEK was first planned as a solo release on 7th February. But due to Vidaamuyarchi coming on the same date, the youthful entertainer was forced to clash with Dragon at the box office, which showed a massive impact on its collections. A better release date could have guaranteed a box office success for NEEK.
