The Madras High Court has directed Shankar and Lyca Productions to sort the differences among them in the Indian 2 conflict. Lyca Productions which is producing Indian 2 approached court earlier this month against Shankar over his non-compliance with the project.

The project which started shoot amidst much fanfare has faced continuous stoppages and now the shoot has completely stalled. This has left the project in jeopardy with no foreseeable future. Adding to this, lead actor Kamal Haasan’s political entry in the recently concluded TN elections have also added to the delay.

Lyca Productions requested the court to restrict Shankar from signing any further projects till he completes his commitment for Indian 2. The producers also accused Shankar of charging Rs 40 crore as remuneration out of which Rs 14 crore have been paid to him. The producers have also offered to deposit the remaining amount with Madras High Court. Another accusation that is causing legal troubles for Shankar is that he has already used up Rs 180 crore of the allotted Rs 236 crores budget.

The court will resume the proceedings on the case on April 28th and then only we might get some clarity over the issue.

On his part, Shankar said that he is not planning to abandon Indian 2 altogether and also opened up about reshooting the portions involving actor Vivekh, who passed away recently. Lyca Productions cited mounting budget as one of the reasons behind their petition.
