Release Date: August 2nd, 2024
Allu Sirish’s much-delayed Buddy is the only major release this week. The film is a remake of Tamil film, Teddy starring Arya. While the film has failed to create a massive buzz amongst the audience, Allu Sirish and team are hoping the audience will lap up the film due to its unique concept. Let’s see if the movie has enough to catch the audience’s fancy.
Story:
Aditya (Allu Sirish), a pilot based in Visakhapatnam, falls for Pallavi (Gayatri Bharadwaj), an air traffic controller. Their love story takes a strange turn when Pallavi is kidnapped. But this isn’t an ordinary kidnapping. In a shocking twist, Pallavi’s soul gets trapped inside a teddy bear! Now, Aditya must find a way to rescue her soul and body while also uncovering the mystery behind this bizarre situation. The film follows their thrilling adventure as they try to outsmart the villain and reunite Pallavi with her body.
Performances:
Allu Sirish delivers a decent performance but there is no hiding the fact that there is a huge room for improvement. Gayatri also performed well in the screen space she got. Other supporting actors like Mukesh Rishi, Ali, and antagonist Ajmal Amir deliver decent performances.
Analysis:
Although the team claims they borrowed the Teddy concept from Arya’s Teddy film, the rest is a freshly woven story, it is just a free make of the Tamil Teddy, just changing a few things here and there. The lead actor’s professions for example is different but the main plot remains the same as in the Tamil film. Director Sam Anton tried to make it a fresh experience for those who have already watched other Teddy films, but failed big time because of the predictable plot. Music from Hip hop Tamiza is pretty average. Production values are high and the Cinematography is decent.
Positives:
- 2nd half
- Production values and visuals
Negatives:
- Predictable story
- Comedy scenes
- Lack of emotions
Verdict:
Overall, Buddy is an average film with a predictable plot with a lack of proper emotions and entertaining moments. It is a one-time watchable film for kids.
