Roshan Kanakala, the son of Suma and Rajeev Kanakala, has made his first appearance as the lead actor in Bubblegum. He has collaborated with director Ravikanth Perepu, known for his work in Kshanam and Krishna and His Leela. Roshan has garnered attention with his self-assured pre-release speech. However, the film, Bubblegum turns out to be an overstretched and lacks flavor. Let’s get into the full details with Bubblegum Movie Review.

Story: Sai Aditya, also known as Adi (Roshan Kanakala), harbors a strong desire to become a DJ despite his below middle-class background. During one of his performances, he finds himself instantly captivated by Jaanu (Maanasa Choudhary), a wealthy young woman with aspirations of pursuing an international professional career. However, before embarking on her chosen path, Jaanu wishes to have fun with love. Gradually, Adi and Jaanu’s relationship strengthens only to have a shattering break in midway. What happened to their relationship? Did the couple was able to get back to the good days? Answers to the questions form the rest of the story.

Performances: Roshan Kanakala’s first appearance on screen is in Bubblegum. The role is perfectly suited for his age, although it does present its own set of difficulties for a first timer. He did a decent job in his debut. Manasa Choudhary was presented well. She looked hot and cute and acted well in crucial emotional scenes. Chaithu Jonnalagadda was impressive as hero’s father and Harshavardhan was perfect as heroine’s father. Anu Haasan, Harsha Chemudu and others were okay.

Bubblegum First Half Review:

The initial scene captivates the audiences by revealing the fate of the protagonist. The thoughts it evokes establish it as an effective hook, instantly engaging the audience. But then what follows is the routine narration of a poor guy falling for a rich girl. One can clearly see the attempt of replicating the flavor of Arjun Reddy. However, the romance between the hero and heroine, along with their frequent lip locks, may attract a certain section of youth but to have an emotional connect, there should be a clear establishment of how the couple get to such intimacy, which was lacking in the film’s narrative. The connection between the interval and the opening was good and raises curiosity about the latter half.

Bubblegum Second Half Review:

Post Interval, Bubblegum unfortunately lives upto the title as the narrative is stretched beyond the patience levels. One does not understand what the problem of the lead hero is. The concept of Self-respect VS Love looked interesting but there was no proper reasoning or logic was present to justify the proceedings. The scenes get repetitive and the drama, action parts seem forced. The Pre-Climax and Climax also did not work because there was no emotional connect to the couple’s journey and their ending. The Director used a few characters whenever he wants just to create drama which looked convenient.

Positives:

  • Few Dialogues and Scenes
  • Lead Pair
  • Opening Sequence

Negatives:

  • Forced Drama/Emotions
  • Dragged Second Half
  • Repetitive and Convenient Scenes

Bubblegum Movie Review and Verdict:

Bubblegum Movie is overstretched and lacks flavor. The Lead Pair Chemistry, a few youthful moments, and a couple of songs work well for the movie but forced emotions and dragged second half with repetitive scenes work against the film. It can be watched if you ignore the flaws and want to enjoy some youth-targeted scenes and songs.
