Salaar proves the Tamil market is much bigger than the Telugu market. It is widely known that the pan-Indian action drama of Prabhas and Prashanth Neel, Salaar was released on December 22nd, and it gathered a worldwide share of 181Cr at the box office. However, the film failed to get the expected collections in other languages. Salaar proves the Tamil market is much bigger than the Telugu market.
In this year, Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Vijay’s Leo did massive numbers and both the films were not visual wonders or high budget or event films. Both were normal commercial entertainers, and the content of them was also not very extraordinary for both films.
As said above, Jailer and Leo both were very regular commercial entertainers but still, they collected 500Cr Gross in the Tamil version alone. Our industry people say the Telugu market is bigger than Tamil, but it is not true because, excluding Rajamouli’s films, none of Telugu films numbers are not closer to Tamil movies numbers.
Salaar was an event film, and it was made with high-budget and massive combination of Prabhas and Prashanth Neel. The film also got positive online reviews. Despite these many positives, Salaar’s Telugu version has just collected around 290 Cr Gross worldwide in its first week and forget about the 500Cr mark, even the film going closer to 400 number looks very tough.
If Salaar cannot post numbers with Tamil films, then there is no chance of other films [Excluding Rajamouli] to go closer to the numbers of Tamil movies. Salaar proves the Tamil market is much bigger than the Telugu market.
