Earlier when a hit becomes a hit, only its run period in theatres was considered. But now its success is measured with the box office stamina.
This is not related to any particular movie or person. All producers and heroes’ films, including top heroes’ films, are releasing box office collections with exaggerated numbers, which brings unnecessary headaches and offers no real advantage. No audience will go to theaters just by seeing collection posters. If they are interested and word of mouth is positive, only then will audiences go to theaters.
Producers continuously claim that they exaggerated the numbers for publicity, but this only generates negative publicity for the film. By exaggerating the numbers, they are directly damaging the hero’s reputation. It’s unclear how heroes are allowing this to happen. Additionally, in press meets and other interactions, they face questions about these fake posters, putting them in a situation where they can neither claim the numbers are genuine nor admit they are exaggerated. They are putting themselves in difficult situations.
If the industry wants to reveal collections, revealing the exact numbers would benefit everyone—buyers, audiences, and even the heroes, who need to stay grounded in reality. If they don’t want to announce collections, then there’s no need to release posters at all.
