While Vijay’s fans are eagerly waiting for Jana Nayagan to receive clearance from the court or the Censor Board, the film’s issues remain unresolved. The latest update is that a copy of the judgment passed by the first Division Bench of the Madras High Court has now been released.

Vijay’s Jana Nayagan Continues to Face Delays, Frustrating Fans

Following this development, the producer is expected to challenge the judgment by approaching the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, frustration is growing among fans as Jana Nayagan continues to face delays and is not getting the clearance. Some fans feel that instead of moving to the Supreme Court, the producer should consider approaching the Revising Committee of the CBFC.

But there is no guarantee that the Revising Committee route will bring quick or positive results. The process is likely to take several months, as a new Revising Committee would need to be formed. After that, the members must review the film, which itself could take weeks due to scheduling and screening queues. This lengthy process could further delay the film’s release.

Jana Nayagan’s Court Proceedings Continue to Prolong

According to the judgment, the Madras High Court Division Bench set aside the earlier order of the Single Judge, who had directed the CBFC to issue a certificate to the film. The court ruled that the CBFC Chairperson acted within legal authority in referring Jana Nayagan to the Revising Committee.

The judges observed that the film contains certain visuals and dialogues suggesting foreign powers creating large-scale religious conflict in India, which could disturb religious harmony. The court also noted that the film includes several army-related references, but no defence expert was included in the Examining Committee.

The court emphasized that these were serious issues requiring proper verification before granting certification. It further stated that the filmmakers were not given adequate opportunity to present their case, which made the earlier writ petition legally unsustainable.

As a result, the appeal was allowed, the Single Judge’s order was set aside, and the matter was sent back for reconsideration under proper legal procedure. The court made it clear that the final decision on whether the referral to the Revising Committee was lawful will now be examined afresh.
