The AP government has taken a decision that is bound to shock RRR and other Tollywood biggies in the coming days. The government has introduced a bill in the ongoing Assembly sessions seeking an amendment in the AP Cinematography Act. This move has been accepted as well and it will not provide any special exemption or treatment to any movie
Under these amendments, the government aims to bring reforms that will enable it to set ticket prices as per its discretion. Additionally, no permissions will be given for special shows and the government will allow only four shows per day for any film. The special shows will now be scrapped and will not be given any permission by AP Government.
This act is seen as a backbreaker for Tollywood biggies such as RRR, Radhe Shyam, Akhanda, Pushpa, and Bheemla Nayak which all are slated for release in the coming months.
Minister Perni Nani introduced this bill in the assembly with an aim to regulate movie ticket prices and make them affordable. The reactions from the film industry on this issue are still awaited.
