Are Vijay Fans Killing Parasakthi?

Tamil cinema lovers and the media were very excited about the Pongal box office clash between Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi. However, Vijay’s film did not release due to censor issues, while Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, made it to theatres. Following this, Sudha Kongara accused Vijay’s fans of harming her film.

Jana Nayagan was originally scheduled for release on January 9. Parasakthi, which was first announced for January 14, was later moved to January 10. This change led to heated debates and fan wars on social media. Later, both films faced censor-related problems. While Sivakarthikeyan and Sudha Kongara’s Parasakthi cleared the issues and was released, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is still stuck in court.

Parasakthi opened with mixed word of mouth. In response, Sudha Kongara made a strong statement in an interview, claiming that Vijay’s fans were trying to damage her film. She said that her team was facing severe slander and defamation from anonymous social media accounts. She also quoted a tweet that read:
“Getting a certificate from the CBFC is not a big deal. First go and apologize to Anna’s fans and get an apology certificate from them. You still have one week. If they forgive you, Parasakthi will run.”

Sudha Kongara directly blamed Vijay’s fans for spreading negativity about the film. However, in reality, this may not be entirely true. While a small section of fans might engage in online negativity, a genuinely good film cannot be stopped by anyone. Fan wars alone cannot decide a movie’s fate at the box office.
