In what will be a major blow to the upcoming Sankranti releases, the AP Government has decided to impose occupancy restrictions across the state. the theatres will now be functioning at only 50% occupancy all over. Adding to this, there will be a night curfew in effect from 11 PM to 5 AM.
Earlier last year in April, the AP government had imposed similar restrictions in the state. The decision has been taken in wake of rising covid cases across the country due to the second wave of covid. Already a number of other states have imposed occupancy cuts in theatres while others have even started a partial lockdown.
Looking at this development, the decision to postpone by RRR and Radhe Shyam seems to be a wise move. The Sankranti season was supposed to be a blockbuster one with RRR, Radhe Shyam, and Bheemla Nayak releasing.
However, everything changed after Bheemla Nayak had to be pushed to the February release, and RRR and Radhe Shyam also deferred their release due to rising Covid cases.
Now, Nagarjuna’s ‘Bangarraju’, Dil Raju’s ‘Rowdy Boy’s, Ashok Galla’s debut film ‘Hero’ and ‘Super Machi’ are lined up for the festive season.
