Pawan Kalyan, the Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, has been battling serious shoulder issues for quite some time. Medical examinations have revealed severe rotator cuff injuries, with muscle tears in both shoulders causing him persistent pain and discomfort.
Medical Assessment at Mumbai Hospital
To undergo a detailed health evaluation, Pawan Kalyan recently visited Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, accompanied by his wife, Anna Lezhneva. After assessing his condition, doctors confirmed that the injuries to both shoulders are severe and advised immediate surgery. They stressed that adequate post-operative rest would be essential for a full recovery.
However, Pawan Kalyan informed the medical team that he has several important official commitments to complete before undergoing the procedure. He assured the doctors that he would return to Mumbai for surgery after fulfilling his scheduled responsibilities as Deputy Chief Minister.
Surgery and Recovery Plan
According to reports, Pawan Kalyan is expected to travel back to Mumbai in the coming days for the operation and will remain there for a period of recovery after the treatment. Rotator cuff tears typically require surgical intervention when conservative treatments fail, especially in cases involving muscle tears in both shoulders.

This isn’t the first time Pawan Kalyan has faced health challenges this year. In mid-April 2026, he successfully underwent Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) at a hospital in Hyderabad to treat a chronic sinus condition. During his recovery, doctors further investigated his long-standing arm pain, which ultimately led to the diagnosis of the severe shoulder issues that now require surgery.
Following that procedure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally called Pawan Kalyan, praising his courage and wishing him a speedy recovery.
