Bollywood Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently mentioned how south emulation in Bollywood has reached its downfall. In a round table by Galatta Plus, Anurag Kashyap reportedly stated,” With pan-India, what is happening right now is that everybody is trying to make a pan-India film. Success will be 5-10%. Films like Kantara and Pushpa give you the courage to go out and tell your stories.“
Anurag further spoke about Yash’s film KGF Chapter I and II that created history at the box office,” But KGF 2, however big the success, when you try to emulate that and set a project up, that’s when you head towards disaster. That’s the bandwagon that Bollywood destroyed itself on. You have to find films that give you courage”.
According to Anurag, films like Kantara, Pushpa the rise and Sairat encourage people to bring forward their own stories. But anyone trying to imitate films like KGF 2 and its massive success will not yield excellent results.
His words are absolutely right because the films like KGF, KGF 2, Pushpa The Rise, Kantara, Sairat all have a big reason they’re such massive successes.
They all have the deep rootedness of their culture and nativity. That’s why they have been able to connect to the audience who have watched those films.
Bollywood too will have to to find the local stories emotions for their scripts if they match to the impact of South Indian films like Pushpa, KGF, KGF 2 and Kantara.
