Andhra King Taluka, starring Ram Pothineni and Bhagyashree Borse, was released in theaters worldwide on 27th November, and it had a disappointing 1st weekend at the box office. Directed by Mahesh Babu P, the film received positive reviews but still heavily underperformed in theaters.
The film was not sold for high rates like Ram’s previous films, like Skanda and Double Ismart. The theatrical business AKT is just around 27 Cr, including GST in Telugu States and P&P. For this, the movie has to achieve 50 Cr gross. As the movie’s songs received a good response and the positive WOM came from audiences, everyone expected that the film could easily achieve breakeven by the weekend itself.
But surprisingly, the film bookings showed very dull momentum before release, and despite getting the unanimous positive reviews, it did not see the expected jumps after opening day.
Andhra King taluka has collected just around 21 crores gross worldwide in the 1st weekend at the box office, which is not even 1/2 of the recovery for buyers. The film did not perform to expectations, even in big cities and the USA.
Now achieving breakeven is practically an impossible task for the film, as this week Akhanda 2 is releasing in theaters. Buyers hope that at least the film sees some reasonable numbers from today for a decent recovery, and if that does not happen, it will end up as a loss for buyers.
