Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi starrer Amaran emerged as the biggest Kollywood blockbuster of last year. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, this biographical action drama earned critical acclaim as well as the audience’s love during its run in theatres.
The film was a major OTT hit as well and now it has made a grand entry in TRP records as well. After the OTT arrival, satellite business and ratings have come down for films in general. At present, the TRP ratings are falling in 3 to 5 range even for big films.
On the contrary, Amaran delivered one of the best ratings in recent times. On its Television premiere in Star Maa, the film delivered an impressive 9.19 rating in Urban and 8 TRP in urban and rural. This shows the love the Telugu audience has for Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi.
Amaran did extraordinarily well in Telugu states along with Tamil markets. It collected more than 50 Cr gross in Telugu which is sensational.
