Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu’s much-awaited film, Akhanda 2, is all set to have a grand worldwide theatrical release in a few days. The film’s producers, Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta, shared key details about the film in a media interaction.
How did the Akhanda 2 project begin?
We produced Legend. That film was released just before the 2014 elections and became a huge success. We wanted to make another film with the same combination before this election as well. The story we initially planned had to be released exactly before the elections, and only then would the character and story connect properly. Since the election date was uncertain, we dropped that idea and brought Akhanda 2 forward.
Are you planning premieres?
Yes. We’ve applied for permissions. Once approved, we’ll announce premiere dates. It could be on the 4th evening, around 8 or 9 PM. We are keeping ticket rates reasonable.
Compared to Akhanda, the action seems to be much bigger in this film?
Lord Shiva means mass. Just like Shiva Tandavam is powerful, the action here is equally intense. The trishul used here cannot be used in any other film.
We shot the climax entirely in Georgia. It was originally planned in Kashmir, but due to the Pahalgam attack, permissions became an issue. We shot in extreme cold temperatures. We all wore sweaters in the cold, but Balayya garu performed in a sleeveless Aghora look and delivered an outstanding performance. Only he can pull that off; it would be impossible for anyone else.
Is there a chance for Akhanda 3?
There is scope for another film in this universe. It’s limitless. If Balayya garu and Boyapati garu want, anything is possible. The story we started here will be completed fully in this film.
In how many languages will it be released?
In all South languages and in Hindi. Apart from that, there is a language called Avadhi in Bihar. We are releasing it in that language too
