A day before the theatrical release of Akhanda 2, it was revealed that the producers, 14 Reels Entertainment, have an unresolved financial issue with Eros. This came as a major surprise to everyone.
A few years ago, 14 Reels collaborated with Eros but did not clear the pending dues. Reports say that the production house promised several times to settle the amount but failed to do so. Because of this, Eros approached the court, demanding ₹27.8 crore with 14% interest from July 2019.
With the added interest, the total amount that 14 Reels Plus must pay has crossed ₹50 crore, and this issue directly impacted the release plans of Akhanda 2.
The team is now trying to resolve the matter outside the court. Eros is reportedly asking for 50% of the total amount to be paid immediately, along with cheques for the remaining balance, in order to withdraw the case. Apart from the issues with local financiers, the Eros matter also needs to be cleared for a smooth release of Akhanda 2.
