Megastar Chiranjeevi and Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s Acharya has taken a severe beating at the box office. The film released on 29th April amidst mostly negative reviews and extremely low buzz. Even on the first day, Acharya saw terrible occupancies and it noticed severe drops on the second day with the trend continuing today as well.

Acharya is on its way to becoming the biggest disaster ever in Telugu cinema. More than Rs 80Cr loss is expected, Distributors demanding compensation of Rs 50Cr to cover losses. No movie has ever recorded a Rs 80Cr loss in the history of Telugu cinema. The performance of this film has indeed shocked many.

Huge losses are expected in major territories with an estimated 50% loss for all the parties involved. The pre-release business of the film has been done for 133 crores. Right from day one, there was a low buzz for this movie despite Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan featuring in it.

The movie was released amidst mostly negative reviews with many terming it the weakest movie by Koratala Siva so far. Acharya’s outdated storyline and subpar screenplay ended up being its biggest drawbacks. Pooja Hegde, Sonu Sood, and Jishu Sengupta featured in prominent roles. Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainment bankrolled this ambitious project.
