Ravi Teja’s Kick (2009), directed by Surrender Reddy, was a ‘Super Hit’ at the box office. Following its success, it was remade in Hindi with the same name with Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles, which emerged as a blockbuster.
After almost a decade, a direct sequel to Kick (2014) is being planned, with Salman reprising his role from the original. Sajid Nadiadwala, who directed the first installment, will fund this project, while A. R. Murugadoss is the director. This will be the fourth time the Tamil filmmaker will be helming a Hindi venture after Ghajini (2008), Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014), Akhira (2016), and his first project, which is not a remake.
The film’s pre-production work has begun with an original script implying that it is not a remake of the Telugu version of Kick-2 (2015); the makers are targeting a grand release for Eid 2025. Prime Video is known to have acquired the streaming rights to the film at an undisclosed price.
