As Zee Telugu had both digital and satellite rights, they experimented with Anil Ravipudi and Venkatesh’s Sankranathiki Vasthunam by screening the television premiere and OTT premiere at the same time. Though this strategy worked well, Zee Telugu made a mistake with Sankranthiki Vasthunam.
Sankranthiki Vasthunam registers massive TRP
On OTT, the family entertainer delivers record numbers, and on television, it delivers a TRP of 15.92 and a TVR of 18.1, which is an extraordinary achievement, as no film has seen this range of TRP in recent years.
But the TRP could have even gone to the 20 range from 16 if Zee Telugu had screened the film on Sunday. The movie was screened on 1st March, Saturday, as on 2nd March there was a cricket match between India and NZ during the ICC Champions Trophy.

However, if the ZEE group had picked another week and screened the film on Sunday, then Sankranthiki Vasthunnam definitely had the potential to deliver a 20 TRP rating. But this golden chance was missed as Zee Telugu made a mistake with Sankranthiki Vasthunam’s premiere.
But still, it was a blockbuster experiment from the Zee group. If they had screened the film on Sunday evening, then certainly, the TRP could have been much bigger. Still, it worked in a good way, as Sankranthiki Vasthunnam opened the door for TRP ratings, and now we can expect many films to follow the same strategy.
