It is well known that producer Naga Vamsi bought the Telugu states theatrical rights of War 2, starring NTR and Hrithik Roshan. After the film failed at the box office, several reports claimed that the producer suffered heavy losses. In his latest interview, Naga Vamsi has now given an official clarification about the film’s business.
Earlier, trade circles reported that the Telugu states’ rights of War 2 were bought for ₹80 crore, and that the same amount was involved in distribution deals, excluding GST. However, Naga Vamsi cleared all the confusion in his interview.
War 2: Naga Vamsi appreciates Yash Raj Films for their generous gesture
Responding to the news about losses, Naga Vamsi revealed that he actually bought the film, War 2, in the Telugu states for ₹68 crore. He said the film earned a share of ₹40 crore. After that, Yash Raj Films called him and refunded ₹18 crore. With this adjustment, he made it clear that there were no major losses for him from the film. He also appreciated Yash Raj Films for honoring the agreement and refunding the amount immediately, despite being a large corporate banner.
Speaking about his personal journey, Naga Vamsi admitted that this year did not go well for him. He said he made some decisions with overconfidence, and they did not work out as expected. He realized that nothing should be taken for granted. Learning from these mistakes, he said he has decided to start fresh again, going back to the basics from where he originally began.
