Vyavastha Web Series Review : Engaging but could have been better

Web Series: Vyavastha
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast: Karthik Rathnam, Sampath Raj, Hebah Patel, Kamna Jhetmalani
Director: Anand Ranga
Streaming On: Zee5
Release Date: 28th April, 2023

Story: Yamini (Hebah Patel) gets arrested for killing her husband on the first wedding day. Vamsi (Ajay Ratnam), a young lawyer who likes her, steps in to save her from being trapped by Chakraborty (Sampath Raj), a crooked and prominent lawyer in the city. Did Yamini commit the murder? Will Vamsi be able to save her? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Analysis: Vyavastha, directed by Oy! Fame Anand Ranga starts on a solid note and has a good setup for an engaging battle between the lead roles. The leading men fight inside and out of the courtroom, as a powerful game, in which both of them try to win at any cost. The difference between both is one tries to win it in a legal way and another uses the loopholes in the system. The legal drama, which sometimes reminds a few popular Hollywood TV shows, has applause-worthy dialogues and scenes on the legal system. However, if more care had taken on the subplots and a much clearer ending would have taken it to the next level. The honest lawyer who is unable to make a good career, a housewife who has suffered sexual exploitation by her husband, these subplots could have been handled in a better and clear way.

Performances: Karthik Rathnam, as Vamsi, has given a striking and natural performance as a young lawyer who never changes his path despite facing many obstacles. On the other hand, Sampath Kumar playing a cruel and selfish lawyer, makes a superb impact. Hebah Patel as Yamini and Kamna Jethamalini as Gayatri were good. Guru Raj, Bindu Chandramouli, Vamsi Raj Nikkanti, Shivani, Sukurtha Wagle, Kranthi Kiran, Sujith Kumar Reddy, Raja Ashok and others were fine.

Plus Points:

  • Main Story
  • Sampath Raj – Karthik Rathnam’s Performance and their combo scenes
  • Dialogues

Minus Points:

  • Mishandling of Some Key Scenes/Episodes
  • Underwhelming Climax

Verdict: Vyavastha is a legal drama that tries to highlight the difference between the settlement and system, has a solid plot, but the narration could have been much tighter and a strong ending could have done wonders. Nevertheless, this Web Series has enough in it for a one-time watch.
