Tamil Actor, Vijay Sethupathi made a thumping comeback with his recent outing, Maharaja. The film received unanimous positive response on the first day and performed very well in the first weekend. Maharaja also went on to gross 40 crores worldwide in the first weekend which was an amazing number for him. Everyone felt that the film may join the 100 crore club after this. But it looks Vijay Sethupathi has missed the 100 crore club as its OTT release date has been announced.
Maharaja’s prospects were spoiled by recently released Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas. Prabhas’ enjoys a popularity in Tamil Nadu as well thanks to his earlier Baahubali series. This film also has Kamal Haasan playing a pivotal role making it to do well in the Tamil Market as well. But Maharaja on the other hand saw a drop due to these reasons. Maharaja will be somewhere beyond 80 crores in the full run which is also a good run for Vijay Sethupathi.
The Actor was really struggling to have a hit and Maharaja stood as a good comeback which he had quoted in the success meet as well. He may try for this club with his upcoming films but it may be doubtful whether he would reach this coveted club in the future. Maharaja will be streaming on July 12th on the leading OTT giant, Netflix.
