This week’s two releases, Vidhudhala 2 and UI, have made solid buzz before their release. Strong promotions in other states and the presence of a strong star cast and directors have led to both these films’ release to good numbers.
Directed by Vettrimaran and starring Vijay Sethupathi, Soori, and Manju Warrier in key roles, Vidudhala2 received good reviews in Tamil. On Day 1, the film saw a good jump in the evening and night shows. Overall, the film registered an opening of 7 Cr in Tamil Nadu, which is a good start.
Upendra’s UI recorded a good start in Kannada. While the film was released to mixed reviews, the strong collections across Karnataka helped the film massively. It registered an opening gross collection of Rs 6.5 crores in Karnataka.
Incidentally, both films failed to make decent collections in Telugu. Vidudhala 2 and UI were both promoted heavily in Telugu states but the opening day numbers are very low for the Telugu versions.
